Stephanie Barrick

Stephanie is entering her fourth year of teaching oboe full time. Stephanie graduated from Baylor University in 2019 with a BM in Church Music and BM in Oboe Performance. She grew up in The Woodlands, TX and began playing oboe at the age of ten. She studied with Dr. Season Summers and Dr. Linda Gilbert throughout grade school. She then studied with Dr. Doris DeLoach and Dr. Euridice Alvarez at Baylor University. In high school, Stephanie was a two-time All-State musician and the principal oboist of the Virtuosi of Houston Youth Chamber Orchestra, where she had the opportunity to perform side-by-side with the Houston Symphony. In 2013, she won the Virtuosi of Houston concerto competition, in which she performed the Mozart Concerto at the Hobby Center in Houston. Throughout college, Stephanie played Oboe in the Baylor Wind Ensemble, Baylor Symphony Orchestra, chamber groups, and church orchestra, as well as English Horn in the Baylor Symphonic Band. She has also performed in concerts with the Waco Symphony and The Woodlands Symphony.

Stephanie's philosophy of teaching is to teach students to teach themselves. She focuses on practice techniques, body awareness, and detailed listening skills so her students learn to "own" their playing.
